Velopex Aquacut Twin Chamber

AquaCare Twin is a revolutionary dental product in the field of Contactless Dentistry and Minimally Invasive Dentistry (M.I.D.) making routine dental procedures painless for patients.

  • Designed to deliver abrasion and prophylaxis, the AquaCare Twin Treatment Centre empowers the clinician to switch easily between dental procedures.
  • Pressures and media settings do not need adjusting for differing treatments.
  • Enjoy the finesse required in multi-disciplinary treatments.

AquaCare Air Abrasion in Dentistry

In cutting mode, AquaCare is used for preparation of cavities without the need for anesthetic or drilling. The AquaCare Twin cuts quickly but conservatively, minimizing the removal of sound tooth material and eliminating the risk of chipping or stress fracturing. Unlike conventional rotary cutting instruments, the AquaCare Twin is not in direct contact with the tooth structure. There is no vibration, heat generation, noise or smell. Other Routine procedures commonly performed with the AquaCare include:

  • clearing out fissures
  • preparing surfaces for bonding
  • removing current cement residues from crown and bridges- extra orally

AquaCare Twin Dental Air Polishing

In cleaning mode, the AquaCare Twin delivers highly efficient stain removal and cleaning. It also increases the effectiveness of tooth whitening procedures.

The AquaCare Twin can clean into the very fine structure of the tooth, which conventional cleaning systems cannot do. Per Dr Chris Matthews; “The AquaCare Twin is the most effective device I have ever used for removing stains from all tooth surfaces, even those difficult to get into pits and crevices which normal cleaning can’t reach. The results speak for themselves and patients love their brilliant smiles.” (“why sweep the carpet with a brush when a hoover is so much more efficient”)

Multi-Function Handpiece – Cut, Clean, Wash and Dry

The AquaCare Twin main feature is the patented handpiece. The handpiece delivers a high-speed fluid stream to create a liquid curtain around the abrasive medium. The fluid is fed from a self contained reservoir within the AquaCare Twin unit. The fluid stream eliminates free borne dust particles and is comfortable for the patient.

AquaCare Handpiece

The handpeice delivers full access in the mouth as it has no cumbersome powder pots attachments. It is light to hold, easy to manoeuvre and works equally well with cutting and cleaning materials. The main airstream that contains the particles exits the handpeice at around 80 psi. Speed and Powder controls on the AquaCare Twin allow the Dentist to adjust the pressure and the amount of powder that feeds to the handpeice.

The handpiece is autoclavable and comes in two colour coded cutting sizes. The long life tungsten carbide cutting nozzles can be easily changed depending on treatment.

 Time-Saving Foot Control

Aquacut Quattro - Foot ControlThe AquaCare Twin includes a triple-action foot control that enables cut, clean, wash, and dry operations to be carried out through the same handpiece, allowing continuous operation without interruption. An entire procedure can be performed without removing the tip from the oral cavity. One handpiece supplies air, water and/or treating medium.

Convenient Powder Cartridge System

The powder for the AquaCare Twin comes in self-contained powder cartridges that allow for quick and easy replacement. The cartridge has an inbuilt feed system that eliminates blocking. It also allows for fast, efficient no mess changes between materials and avoids mixing and possible contamination of the powders. The AquaCare Twin currently works with 4 different powders, with more materials in development.

The AquaCare Twin is completely air driven with no electrical parts requiring less maintenance than electronic equipment. There are also no pumps and no leaking as the AquaCare Twin works entirely with air pressure.

The AquaCare Twin is a fraction of the cost of a hard-tissue laser while providing fast, efficient cutting and cleaning with very high levels of patient acceptability.

Users of the AquaCare Twin report:

  • Quicker more predictable treatments
  • Fast, easy to use and painless
  • Very patient friendly and conservative of tooth structure
  • Vastly superior cavity preparation for bonded restorations
  • A brilliant piece of kit to allow MI principles to be applied
  • I couldn’t work without it

Examples of AquaCare Twin Specialist Procedures:

Orthodontics: AquaCare Twin is a superior tool for Incognito Lingual brackets as it is able to reach difficult internal surfaces in order to clean and attach the brackets.

Aquacut AquaCare Twin without drill or anaesthetic

Removal of glass ionomer and composite restorations, conservative preparations, etching porcelain and cleaning and etching of tooth surfaces before fissure sealing can all be done without the drill; often without the use of anesthetic.

How does Aquacut AquaCare Twin compare for speed?

Speed, powder and water volume can be varied within very wide limits, giving the Clinician complete control and high versatility of operation: mostly used without anesthetic, in most cases there will be a saving of time with each patient.

How safe is Aluminium Oxide?

Aluminium Oxide is not toxic and will not cause respiratory problems. Aquacut works with 53 micron powder and 29 micron, and this places them well clear of the allowable (legal) safe level in the event of any accidental inhalation.

Is soft tissue affected?

Soft tissue is not likely to be damaged since the energy of the abrasion process is absorbed by any soft tissue coming into contact.

Sensitivity of teeth under treatment

Sensitivity in the dentine is usually swiftly controlled by a slight reduction in air pressure. Cutting with short abrasive bursts will help to avoid any patient reaction. Cutting near the pulp exposure this is especially important – with low air pressure the experienced Clinician can prepare cavities without patient sensitivity.

Controlling the depth when cutting

The tip should be in motion and with short bursts of the abrasive stream. If the tip is held stationary with active abrasion the depth of cut increases.

If soft decay is encountered

Soft decay is best removed with Sodium Bicarbonate or using your usual method. For some patients anesthesia may be necessary, but most will tolerate the mild discomfort once the procedure has been explained to them.

Using Aquacut AquaCare Twin for diagnosis of caries

In “cleaning/polishing” mode using Sodium Bicarbonate, foreign matter e.g. a vegetal plug may be concealing a carious lesion within a fissure or pit. At the twist of a control the Clinician can change to the chosen cutting medium – WITHOUT REMOVING THE HANDPIECE FROM THE ORAL CAVITY – and proceed with treating the lesion. This diagnostic use of Aquacut Quattro has proved to be a great attribute for the dental practitioner, especially for its assistance in conservative dentistry.

Versatility of control

The Clinician has a wide range of settings in his control, with air pressure, powder and water volume variable to suit all his abrasion procedures. Conservative, time-saving, patient-friendly.
